Vitamin IV Therapy

Vitamin IV therapy in Houston, TX: the medical team reviews your health before it is given. In Spanish, walk-ins welcome, no insurance needed.

A vitamin IV, or IV therapy, drips slowly through a vein in your arm while you sit back. At Clínica Hispana Cruz no one gets an IV without a check first: the medical team talks with you, reviews your health and decides whether the IV is appropriate for you before placing the line.

What does the medical team check before starting?

  • Your blood pressure, pulse and other vital signs taken on the spot
  • Heart, kidney or liver conditions
  • Allergies to medications, latex or medical tape
  • The medications and supplements you take
  • Whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • How you have been feeling the last few days

How does the session go at the clinic?

  1. You sit in a comfortable chair and we explain the procedure in Spanish or English.
  2. A comfortable forearm vein is found and disinfected, and a thin plastic catheter is left in place.
  3. The fluid drips slowly while the medical staff watches the line the whole time.
  4. When the bag empties, the staff takes out the catheter and presses cotton on the spot for a moment.
  5. Before you leave, we tell you how to care for the needle site.

How much time should you set aside?

The length depends on the volume of the IV and the drip rate the medical team sets, so plan for an unhurried visit. You can read, use your phone or rest while it runs. Eat something light beforehand and let us know if you need a restroom break midway.

Which questions are worth asking?

  • What exactly is in the IV I am getting?
  • Is it compatible with my medications and conditions?
  • What side effects could show up, and what do I do if they do?
  • How is it different from a vitamin B12 shot?

When should you speak up right away?

If during the drip you feel burning or swelling where the line is, dizziness, a racing heart, shortness of breath or itching, tell the staff at once so they can stop the flow and check you. Ask the IV price at the Airline Drive front desk before you sit down.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, it can happen. If the medical team sees that a heart or kidney condition, or another factor, makes the IV inappropriate for you that day, they explain why and point you to other care options.

You feel a brief pinch, similar to a blood draw. After that, only the thin catheter stays in the vein. If the area starts burning or swelling at any point, tell the staff so they can check it.

Most people leave on their own. Before you go, the staff confirms you feel well. If you got dizzy during the session, stay a little longer in the waiting area or ask someone to pick you up.
