Blood Tests | Lab

Blood tests in Houston, TX: CBC, chemistry, glucose, cholesterol and more. Results in Spanish, with affordable pricing.

A blood test shows what a physical exam can't: how your sugar, fats, thyroid, liver and kidneys are doing. At Clínica Hispana Cruz we draw the sample right here, and the medical team walks you through every value in Spanish or English once the results come in.

What can be measured?

  • CBC: counts of the cells that carry oxygen, fight infection and help your blood clot
  • Blood chemistry with glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides
  • Thyroid panel
  • Liver and kidney function tests
  • Combined panels for a general checkup or to keep an eye on a condition you already have

Who is it for?

  • People living with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol who need regular monitoring
  • Anyone who hasn't had lab work in years and wants to know how things look inside
  • Workers and students who have to turn in blood results for paperwork

Do you need to fast?

It depends on what is being measured. Glucose and the lipid panel are usually drawn after several hours without food, with water only; other tests don't require it. If you're not sure which applies to you, send us a WhatsApp before you leave home and we'll tell you how to come prepared.

Keep taking your usual medicines unless the medical team says otherwise, and bring a written list of what you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.

What is the blood draw like?

  1. At the front desk you tell us why you need the tests.
  2. The medical team reviews with you which tests make sense.
  3. The skin on your arm is cleaned and the blood is drawn with a thin needle in a few minutes.
  4. You hold the cotton in place for a bit so you don't bruise.

What happens when the results arrive?

Once they're in, we reach out and walk you through each number in plain words, skipping the lab jargon. If something is out of range, we talk through the next step: changes in your diet, repeating the test later, starting treatment, or a referral to a specialist when needed. If you have to come in fasting, it helps to arrive early, when our Airline Drive doors open at 9 AM.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tell the medical team before the draw. Some tests can still be done, but others, like glucose or the lipid panel, may come out skewed; in that case we suggest coming back another morning without breakfast so the result is reliable.

Yes. Bring the sheet listing the requested tests and the medical team will check which ones can be done here. If you don't have an order, you can still come: the visit itself decides which labs make sense for your health.

Of course. Let us know when you arrive and we'll draw the sample with you lying down or reclined, at a calm pace. A light snack beforehand (if your test doesn't require fasting) and some water help keep you from feeling faint.
