Minor Surgery

Minor surgery in Houston, TX: moles, cysts and lipomas. Outpatient procedure in Spanish, with affordable pricing.

Minor surgery is a short procedure under local anesthetic to remove skin lumps or lesions without a hospital stay. At Clínica Hispana Cruz the medical team removes moles, cysts and lipomas on an outpatient basis: you walk in, you are treated in the exam room and you go home when it's done.

Which lesions can be removed?

  • Moles that bother you, rub against clothing or worry you
  • Cysts under the skin, like the ones that show up on the back or neck
  • Lipomas: soft, movable fatty lumps, common on the shoulders, arms or trunk
  • Other small skin lesions the medical team considers suitable

How is it decided whether minor surgery fits?

First the lesion is evaluated: its size, depth and how long you've had it. If a mole has changed shape, color or size, bleeds for no reason or has irregular borders, say so. When the lesion's appearance calls for it, the medical team arranges a referral to a specialist instead of removing it at the clinic.

What happens on the day of the procedure?

  1. The area is marked and cleaned with antiseptic.
  2. Local anesthetic is injected to numb only that spot.
  3. The lesion is removed with sterile instruments.
  4. When the opening calls for it, a few stitches bring the skin together before a bandage goes on top.
  5. Before you leave, you get written instructions for wound care.

How do you get ready?

Eat breakfast as usual, wear loose clothing that leaves the area easy to reach and bring your medication list. Tell us ahead of time if you take a blood thinner such as daily aspirin, if a dental numbing shot ever disagreed with you, or if you live with diabetes, so the medical team can adjust the procedure.

What to expect over the next few days?

Some soreness is normal and usually eases with an over-the-counter pain reliever. Come back if the wound turns red, warm or oozes pus, or if you run a fever. We give you the date for stitch removal when we finish. If you have noticed a new lump, show it at our Airline Drive clinic before it keeps growing.

Frequently Asked Questions

It can, especially with some cysts if part of the wall remains. That is why the medical team aims to remove the whole lesion. If you notice the lump returning in the same spot, come back to have it checked.

Every incision leaves a mark, usually a thin line that fades over the months. Caring for the wound, not scratching it and keeping it out of the sun while it heals help it show less.

Many people return to their routine right away. If your job involves heavy lifting or a lot of movement in the treated area, the medical team tells you how much rest you need so the stitches don't open.
