Urinalysis & Urinary Infection Treatment

Urinalysis and urinary infection treatment in Houston, TX, same day. In Spanish, with affordable pricing.

If it burns when you pee or you feel like you have to rush to the bathroom every few minutes, it may be a urinary tract infection. When you walk into our Airline Drive office with those symptoms, we do a urine test at the clinic and, if there is an infection, you leave with your treatment the same day, after the medical team weighs the result against your symptoms, your history and whatever you've already tried at home for relief.

Which symptoms point to a UTI?

  • Burning or stinging right as the urine comes out
  • An urge to go again and again even when only a few drops come out
  • Cloudy, strong-smelling or pinkish urine
  • Uncomfortable pressure below the belly button

How does the visit go?

  1. We give you a sterile cup and explain how to clean yourself before filling it.
  2. You collect the midstream urine, letting the first bit go.
  3. The medical team reviews the urinalysis together with your symptoms and history.
  4. With the infection confirmed, you get a sheet showing when and for how many days to take each dose, and medicines prescribed during the visit are handed to you at the clinic before you head home.

What is a urine culture for?

Sometimes it pays to know exactly which germ is behind the problem: infections that return again and again, symptoms that stay the same after the first antibiotic, or a pregnant patient. In those cases the medical team sends part of your urine out for a culture. That result takes longer than the basic test: we call you as soon as it comes in to confirm the medicine is the right one or switch it.

What helps prevent the next UTI?

  • Finish the full treatment even if you feel better sooner
  • Sip water all day long and use the bathroom as soon as you feel the urge
  • Pee after sex
  • For women, wipe front to back

When is it more than a mild bother?

Fever, chills, pain in your lower back or side, vomiting or visible blood in the urine can mean the infection has reached the kidneys. Don't put it off; if you also feel very weak, confused or can't keep fluids down, go to the emergency room. If the burning starts late in the afternoon, the Airline Drive clinic keeps seeing patients until 9 PM.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and it's better not to wait: during pregnancy a urinary infection needs prompt care even when symptoms are mild. Tell the medical team you're pregnant so they choose a treatment that is safe for you and the baby and decide whether a urine culture is needed.

Yes. Bring the box or tell us its name and when you started it. That antibiotic can change what the urine test shows and may not be the right one for your infection, so the medical team takes it into account before giving you a treatment.

Yes, although it's less common than in women. In men the medical team looks more carefully for the cause, since it is sometimes linked to the prostate or another issue, and may order extra tests or a referral to a specialist.
